The Red Island Railway Journal operates CNRPEI.ca, a website about Prince Edward Island railway history, research, and modelling. This policy explains the limited information collected when you visit or interact with the site.
Comments and contact
When visitors leave comments, the site collects the information entered in the comment form, together with the visitor’s IP address and browser user-agent string to help detect spam. An anonymized string created from an email address may be sent to Gravatar to determine whether the commenter uses that service. After a comment is approved, the commenter’s profile image may be publicly visible beside it. Automattic’s privacy policy is available at automattic.com/privacy.
Information submitted through the contact page is used only to read and respond to the message. It is not used to create a marketing mailing list.
Analytics
CNRPEI.ca uses Google Analytics 4, connected through Site Kit by Google, to understand how readers find and use the site. Analytics may process information such as pages viewed, referring pages, approximate location, and device or browser information. This information is reviewed in aggregate to improve the journal and its navigation. Google processes this information under the Google Privacy Policy. Logged-in WordPress users are excluded from this site’s Analytics tracking.

How information is used and retained
Information is used to operate and secure the site, prevent spam, respond to correspondence, understand readership, and improve published material. Personal information is not sold. Approved comments and their metadata may be retained so later comments can be recognized. Contact messages are retained only as long as reasonably necessary, while aggregated Analytics information is retained according to the site’s Google Analytics settings.
